What is Workflow?

Work•flow /ˈwərkflō/

“The sequence of industrial, administrative, or other processes through which a piece of work passes from initiation to completion.” – lexico.com

What is a quality workflow?  How do we develop it?  Below are elements of the production cycle that most creative people move through as they create something.  First, we must identify the stages of project production. What is each stage and what are the quality checks for each stage.  Read on and find out!

Inspiration

How do we find ideas to develop?

• WHAT TOOLS SHOULD WE USE? You should use whatever tools you feel necessary.
• WHAT PROCESS SHOULD WE USE? I use a creative process where i do some sort of action and see what i think of.
• HOW DO YOU MEASURE QUALITY? Quality can be measured in a couple different ways but the most important is how it feels to you.
• WHO MEASURES QUALITY? Quality can be measured by anyone its just who feels wants it the most.

Intention

How do we clarify our specific goal(s) for a project?

• WHAT TOOLS SHOULD WE USE? I use communication frequently.
• WHAT PROCESS SHOULD WE USE? A process that feels most comfortable.
• HOW DO YOU MEASURE QUALITY? By what you believe it to be.
• WHO MEASURES QUALITY? Whoever decides to.

Pre-production

How can we brainwrite, brainstorm, storyboard, and plan our ideas at this phase?

• WHAT TOOLS SHOULD WE USE? By using something you can see in front of you everyday.
• WHAT PROCESS SHOULD WE USE? a step by step process.
• HOW DO YOU MEASURE QUALITY? by how you feel it sits.
• WHO MEASURES QUALITY? whoever pleases.

Production

How do we communicate with each other and execute our plan for this phase? This is where we actually make the project.

• WHAT TOOLS SHOULD WE USE? whatever is necessary to use and complete the project.
• WHAT PROCESS SHOULD WE USE? have others give your product a once-over and see what they can critique about it.
• HOW DO YOU MEASURE QUALITY? By how i fee it sits.
• WHO MEASURES QUALITY? whoever may please.

Post-production

How do we communicate with each other and execute our final stages of the project for this phase? This is where we publish the project.

• WHAT TOOLS SHOULD WE USE? Whatever we feel necessary.
• WHAT PROCESS SHOULD WE USE? Having everyone look over the project and determining that everything fits.
• HOW DO YOU MEASURE QUALITY? By how i feel the situation is.
• WHO MEASURES QUALITY? Whoever wants to.

Presentation/Performance

How do we share our project with our learning community, advisory members, and the world?

• WHAT TOOLS SHOULD WE USE? The tools provided.
• WHAT PROCESS SHOULD WE USE? Get things done by this point.
• HOW DO YOU MEASURE QUALITY? By how i feel about a subject.
• WHO MEASURES QUALITY? whoever feels necessary.

Feedback

How do we conduct a feedback session at the end of the project development cycle?

• WHAT TOOLS SHOULD WE USE? By properly analyzing whatever work was turned in.
• WHAT PROCESS SHOULD WE USE? Whatever one works
